Highly qualified specialists perform surgical operations, correct congenital and acquired defects, restore soft tissue deficits, reshape breasts and ears, eliminate the consequences of injuries, burns, and ulcers, and diagnose and treat skin neoplasms. Additionally, the department performs microsurgical operations and peripheral nerve reconstruction.
Liposuction procedures are also performed. Department staff work in close collaboration with the departments of cardiothoracic medicine, orthopedics, general and vascular surgery, and provide plastic surgery consultations throughout the Medical Center. The department’s key research projects include: viscoelastic properties of skin and subcutaneous tissues; development of equipment for treating hypertrophic and keloid scars; wound healing; and improvement of autologous fat injection techniques. Dozens of plastic surgeons representing the elite of Israel work at the Institute of Plastic Surgery across a wide range of specializations. During the initial visit, the patient presents their concern to the plastic surgeon, receives answers about whether the procedure is feasible, what it should entail, and is always shown a digital preview of the final result of the cosmetic correction.
