Institute of Radiology
The department encompasses all non-invasive methods — radiographic, radioscopic — and invasive methods — angiography, venography, cystography, cholangiopancreatography, and others. Daily, hundreds of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed under radiographic guidance, including placement of PICC lines and port-a-caths for chemotherapy administration.
Tomographic diagnostic methods — 256-slice scanning of the highest precision and resolution — allow for coronary tomography and virtual colonoscopy.
CT-guided biopsy methods can reach any point in the human body.
Clinical Applications
Radiography remains the leading primary diagnostic study for a range of pathologies:
- chest: for diagnosis of various pathologies (inflammatory, focal, congenital);
Gastrointestinal tract:
- without contrast — diagnosis of intestinal obstruction, presence of free gas and fluid in the abdominal cavity;
- with contrast — diagnosis of esophageal achalasia, esophageal spasm, reflux.
- skeleton — general view of different sections, diagnosis of fractures, arthrosis. Functional status of spinal segments, joints (ankle). Assessment of deformity degree (scoliosis), congenital anomalies;
- dentistry and orthodontics (for evaluation of dental and jaw bone pathology);
- diagnosis of acute sinusitis.
